Teacher Professional Development

The Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) offers teacher professional development sessions. Each session is two hours and includes an introduction to a STEAM tool, an opportunity for teachers to try the tool out, and discussion of how the tool can be used across platforms.

Sessions can be held at your school, at MODA, or virtually. Teachers are invited to bring their own computers to the session.

  • In this 2-hour workshop, teachers will be introduced to G-Develop, a no-code, open-source, free, and easy 2D/3D game-making app that can be used across the curriculum. Participants will learn the basics of game design and participate in hands-on activities to create their own games.

  • In this workshop, teachers will learn about the history and development of AI and use several AI tools to create images, text, and more.

  • In this workshop, teachers will learn how to apply design thinking principles to develop innovative solutions to classroom challenges and foster a culture of innovation in their teaching practice.

  • In this workshop, teachers will learn practical skills and strategies for designing and building accessible STEAM educational materials and activities for learners with diverse needs. Teachers will have a deeper understanding of accessibility in STEAM education and the skills and strategies necessary to create inclusive and engaging learning environments for all learners.

  • In this workshop, teachers will focus on the design and prototyping of a phone case. Teachers can learn about the different materials and processes used in phone case design and how to create a prototype using materials like plastic or silicone. They can then use this knowledge to create a lesson where students design and prototype their own phone cases.

  • In this workshop, teachers will learn how to use Canva's design tools and templates to create visually appealing and engaging classroom decor, including bulletin boards, posters, and banners.
