VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS

We have virtual field trips for every class!

All school field trips are aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Plus, MODA’s virtual school visits are completely FREE for Title I schools!

Year-Round Offerings

The following field trips are available anytime and will be related to current and past MODA exhibitions as appropriate for each field trip.

  • For Grades K-12

    With the assistance of a MODA instructor, students will reimagine the future and the schools that inhabit it before creating new school spaces that are dynamic, fun, and welcoming to all.

  • For Grades 4-8

    Students will learn how lunar landings work and talk about the ways that robots help us with space exploration before using TinkerCAD to create some designs that are out of this world!

  • For Grades 4-12

    First, students will explore a process called biomimicry and the designs it has informed. Then, they’ll put their new skills to the test through the completion of a hands-on activity!

  • Grades 4-8

    Students will explore the relationships between house design and forces of nature. We’ll talk about how different conditions affect our shelter needs before getting busy in TinkerCAD designing homes that can withstand the nature’s extremes.

  • For Grades 4-12

    This workshop will begin with a brainstorming session in which we discuss the ways that injustice impacts our daily lives. We’ll then look at some examples of designs making the world a better place before teaming up to innovate our own solutions to inequity!

  • For Grades 6-8

    In this workshop, a MODA educator will lead students through the basics of game design using a free, online platform.

  • For Grades 9-12

    In this workshop designed with high schoolers in mind, a MODA educator will lead students through the basics of game design using free, online platforms called GDevelop and Piskel.

  • For Grades 6-12

    In addition to covering the basic principles of graphic design, students will learn how to represent data, understand bias, and create a more powerful impact through digital media. They will also enjoy an opportunity to create graphs, posters, pamphlets, or presentations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our workshops are completely FREE for Title I schools!

    For non-Title I schools, each workshop is $250.

    Once we’ve agreed upon a date and time for your virtual field trip, we’ll send you an invoice. Payment must be made at least two weeks in advance of your scheduled field trip or upon receipt if scheduling within two weeks. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, or check. Please email education@museumofdesign.org with any questions.

    Please note: registrations cancelled within two weeks prior to the field trip will result in a refund of 60%. No refunds will be available for cancellations less than two weeks prior to the date of the workshop, class, or program.

  • Capacity varies by field trip.

  • Young designers with different styles of learning or special learning needs are welcome in MODA education programs. We will be able to most effectively help your young designer learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs. Please email education@museumofdesign.org with questions.
